Cancer ABCs™ is a non-profit corporation organized under the non-profit laws of the State of New York.  We have been given 501(c)3 status by the United States Internal Revenue Service.  All donations made to us are fully tax dedcuctable to the extent of the Law.

 We are CANCER THRIVERS, cancer medical specialists, caregivers and loved ones, cancer advocates and cancer navigators.  We have many years of experience working with different cancer related organizations as well as at major medical and research facilities.  We have provided cancer patient education, support and advocacy over many years. 

Our two founders, CEO and Executive Director, Joel T. Nowak, is a CANCER THRIVER with five primary (unrelated) cancers, including one that has metastasized and one that is a rare cancer. Our Senior Psychologist, Dr. Wendy Lebowitz, has been a caregiver for a number of family members, works in a hospital clinic where she sees some people affected by cancer and has also faced a personal cancer diagnosis.

We have learned about cancer from our own personal experiences, from listening to people with cancer, to caregivers, as well as to medical and research professionals.

We have joined together with a simple goal: to use our experiences and expertise to design programs that will help you take control of your medical care and your life so that you too can become a CANCER THRIVER.   It doesn’t matter if you are newly diagnosed or were diagnosed years ago, you can flourish despite having cancer.

We believe that advocating for improved healthcare, more research and sharing the many things we have learned will help you move from just SURVIVING TO THRIVING.
