Short Term ADT with Radiotherapy As Salvage Treatment After Surgery: Update at 9 years of the GETUG-AFU 16 phase III Randomized Trial

In this ASCO reported study, men were randomized to radiotherapy alone or radiotherapy plus ADT for 6 months. They were stratified by radiotherapy modality and their risk group to assess survival outcomes.  The data indicated that after a median follow-up of 112 months, progression-free survival was significantly longer for both low- and high-risk treated with radiotherapy plus ADT.  Metastases-free survival at 10 years was also significantly longer in men receiving the combination od ADT and radiotherapy.

These findings confirm the better strategy for salvage therapy after failed surgery for prostate cancer is ADT along with radiotherapy,
